Getting Started

6 Steps to Get Running on WellRyde

WellRyde started as an independent product from nuVizz, Inc., an advanced transportation management system used by more than 1,200 transportation companies before ModivCare bought it in May 2021. The acquisition was part of a wider push by ModivCare to bring dispatch, GPS tracking and trip verification in-house across its national NEMT network, rather than leaving each contracted provider to run whatever system it already had.

Today WellRyde functions less like a product a fleet shops for and more like a requirement that comes with the ModivCare relationship. Credentialed providers use the web dispatch portal and the WellRyde Driver mobile app to receive trip assignments, track vehicles in real time, and capture a rider's signature as proof of pickup and drop-off. Fleets that also run trips for other brokers, such as MTM or Access2Care, typically still need a separate system like RouteGenie or NEMT Cloud Dispatch to manage everything outside the ModivCare workflow.

1
Get credentialed with ModivCare

WellRyde access follows from your provider agreement with ModivCare; it isn't sold as a standalone product you can sign up for independently.

2
Receive portal and app access

ModivCare provisions your dispatch portal login and driver app credentials as part of onboarding new transportation providers.

3
Set up vehicles and drivers

Add your fleet and driver roster into the system so trip assignments route to the right vehicle and driver.

4
Install the driver app

Get drivers onto the WellRyde Driver app on iOS or Android and confirm GPS permissions and signature capture work correctly.

5
Run a test batch of trips

Dispatch a small number of live ModivCare trips first to confirm assignment, tracking and proof-of-service capture behave as expected.

6
Contact ModivCare support for issues

Route technical problems through ModivCare's WellRyde support line rather than a general software help desk, since ModivCare operates the platform directly.

What You Need to Know

Features, Pricing, Integrations & Reputation

Core Features & Modules

WellRyde covers the trip lifecycle a broker cares about most: dispatch to scheduled and unscheduled trips, real-time GPS tracking of the vehicle, and electronic signature capture at pickup and drop-off as proof of service. Automated route planning and trip assignment are built in, cutting down how much manual reshuffling a dispatcher has to do during a busy day.

Because ModivCare built WellRyde to support its own broker operations, the feature set leans toward what a broker needs to verify a trip happened, not toward the broader back-office tools an independent NEMT business runs day to day, such as private-pay billing, standalone accounting exports, or marketing and CRM tools. Fleets get trip execution and verification, and generally look elsewhere for everything else.

Pricing & Plans

ModivCare doesn't publish a standard WellRyde subscription price. In practice, eligible credentialed providers get access at no charge or reduced cost as part of their ModivCare provider agreement, since the platform exists mainly to serve ModivCare's own network visibility and compliance needs rather than as a standalone software business. A fleet weighing whether to also license a separate dispatch platform for non-ModivCare trips should ask its ModivCare account representative directly what WellRyde costs and what it doesn't cover.

Broker, EDI & Integration Support

WellRyde's main integration is a fact rather than a feature: it connects directly into ModivCare's own trip assignment and billing network, which is the whole point of the platform. Public documentation doesn't show WellRyde offering EDI connections to other brokers such as MTM or Veyo, or third-party accounting integrations. Providers who need to reconcile ModivCare trips against their own accounting, or against trips from other brokers, typically export data by hand or run a second system alongside WellRyde.

Onboarding, Support & Training

Onboarding runs through ModivCare's own provider relations team rather than a typical software sales and implementation process, since access to WellRyde comes bundled with becoming a ModivCare transportation provider. ModivCare publishes portal guides covering dispatch, billing and route workbench workflows, and providers can reach WellRyde support by phone or email. Because the platform is a condition of the ModivCare relationship for many providers rather than a discretionary purchase, training tends to happen on a fixed onboarding timeline rather than at the fleet's own pace.

Reputation: What NEMT Operators Say

Feedback from NEMT operators on WellRyde is mixed and shaped heavily by the fact that most users didn't choose it independently; they got it because ModivCare requires it for trip visibility. Common praise centers on the core dispatch and route-planning tools working reliably for day-to-day trip execution. Recurring complaints mention a real learning curve for teams new to the platform, along with reports of friction around location confirmation accuracy and how no-show statuses get recorded, both of which matter a lot when a broker uses that same data to decide what to pay a provider.

Weigh It Up

WellRyde: Strengths & Limitations

What operators like
  • Comes free or low-cost with a ModivCare provider relationship, no separate purchase decision

  • Built in particular around ModivCare's trip verification and payment requirements

  • GPS tracking and signature capture give a clear proof-of-service record

  • Direct, native integration into the ModivCare trip assignment workflow

Where it falls short
  • Not sold as an independent product for fleets outside the ModivCare network

  • Limited public detail on integrations with other brokers or accounting systems

  • Operators report a real learning curve and occasional issues with location and no-show accuracy

Avoid These

3 Mistakes Operators Make With WellRyde

The most common, and most avoidable, missteps we see.

Decorative geometric pattern
Treating WellRyde as your whole dispatch system

If you run trips for multiple brokers or take private-pay rides, plan for a second platform such as RouteGenie or MediRoutes to cover everything WellRyde doesn't.

Assuming you can shop it like standalone software

WellRyde access flows from your ModivCare provider agreement, so evaluating it the way you'd evaluate purchased software, with a demo and a sales quote, isn't really how it works.

Ignoring how trip-verification data affects payment

Since ModivCare uses WellRyde's GPS and signature data to confirm trips happened, train drivers carefully on capturing proof of pickup and drop-off correctly to avoid payment disputes.

Who We Help

Who WellRyde Fits Best

This one is less a buying decision and more a fact of doing business with ModivCare.

ModivCare-Credentialed Providers

If ModivCare is a significant share of your trip volume, WellRyde is likely already part of your workflow rather than an optional add-on.

Fleets New to the ModivCare Network

Providers just starting a ModivCare relationship should expect WellRyde onboarding as a standard part of getting credentialed, not a separate software search.

Multi-Broker Fleets Needing a Second System

Providers running ModivCare trips alongside work for other brokers or private-pay riders generally need an additional platform to manage everything WellRyde doesn't touch.
